Adult Faith Formation at Indianola

Progressive christian faith embraces doubts and questions and digs into scripture, theology, and our tradition to seek answers. At IPC, We celebrate a diversity of opinion and find that when we don’t shy away from hard topics (but explore it together in honest open dialogue) we all grow. Our Adults are life long learners who believe we our faith never stops growing — it deepens, expands, and finds new ways to take root in every season of life. Our Adult Faith Formation programs create space for adults to ask big questions, study scripture, build community, and serve together.

We offer a variety of groups and studies to meet people where they are, whether you’re looking for deep biblical study, lively discussion, hands-on service, or simply good food and fellowship.

Adult Classes and Groups

  • Sunday Morning Groups

    The Charter Class — Bible Study
    Sundays at 9:00am | Charter Room (off the Fellowship Hall, basement)
    The Charter Class is a traditional Bible study using the Present Word curriculum, published by PC(USA). Together, this group works through scripture in a thoughtful, consistent way, sharing insights and supporting one another in faith.

    The Big Table — Discussion Group
    Sundays at 9:00am | in the 2nd floor board room off the sanctuary balcony
    Led by our pastor, Trip Porch, the Big Table explores big questions of faith, life, and culture through a theological and biblical lens. Using articles, podcasts, videos, and books, this group is a lively, welcoming space where all perspectives are honored and no question is off-limits.

  • Fellowship & Small Groups

    Salters — Older Adult Fellowship
    A gathering for older adults that meets monthly for dinner and games. A warm, fun space to connect and share life together.

    The In-Betweeners
    A fellowship group for empty nesters looking for community and shared adventures. Gatherings happen periodically and are always full of laughter and good conversation.

    Peppers — Young Families
    A group for young families who gather on an episodic basis for food, playdates, and support. Kids and grown-ups alike make connections here!

  • Additional Study & Connection Groups

    Women’s Christ Care
    Every other Monday at 10:00am | Church Library
    A group of women who gather for prayer, study, and mutual support. A beautiful rhythm of spiritual friendship and learning.

    Men’s Chat
    Second Thursday of each month at 12:30pm | MCL Diner
    A casual monthly lunch gathering for men to talk life and faith in an easygoing, welcoming environment.

    Pew Crew
    Monthly at the church
    A hands-on service group that gathers to tackle building projects around the church. Laughter, tools, and teamwork all included.
